The biggest issue of Ghost Recon Breakpoint is the fact that it exists.

Wildlands plays perfectly on Steam Deck.

The closest exoplanet to Earth is only 4.2 light-years away. It's an Earth-sized world in the habitable zone of its small star, meaning liquid water *could* exist on the surface. Now, a possible second planet, Proxima Centauri c, is awaiting confirmation! go.nasa.gov/3woVXTu
#NASAExoplanets
in reply to NASA

How many of these habitable zone worlds are unlikely to be tidally locked? (I know it can't be known at this time for sure, but some are more likely than others.)

Even the closest known exoplanet is very far from Earth. If we traveled as fast as @NASAVoyager, 38,000 mph/61,000 kph, it would take us 75,000 years to reach Proxima Centauri b. go.nasa.gov/3woVXTu

Init Freedom Campaign Saves Linux From Systemd? #Linux #YouTube youtu.be/eecIrNvrWZI

systemd was such great improvement for linux maintenance. I still remember these horrible huge bash scripts. Total nightmares!!!
in reply to Brodie Robertson

People who do not use systemd are like vegans 😂. they just love to scream about their hate to systemd/people who eat meat.

I use open-rc but not because systemd is bad, I like the easy to use nature of systemd but because I want to learn and deal with other init systems

Why We All Need Subtitles Now. Technology, a desire for realism, and mediocre at-home sound have conspired to make dialogue in contemporary film and TV less intelligible, prompting many to turn on subtitles. kottke.org/23/01/why-we-all-ne…
in reply to kottke.org

I find them distracting, but with good hearing, I am discovering all sorts of tidbits that I missed the first time I watched movies.

For example. In the first John Wick, why/how did his wife know she needed to send him a dog? I thought the illness was sudden.

It wasn't. They knew all along it could happen, and she at the dog at the ready.

Subtitles!

in reply to kottke.org

Amen. I am in awe of the labour of love that is the system of free subtitle DBs that some media servers can use to automagically find and apply to media. It’s catch as catch can, but a great help.

Last night on German TV I watched a documentary of the NSDAP takeover of the country in 1933, based on the diaries of normal people on both sides: Nurses, doctors, workers, journalists, trade unionists, embassy workers and more. There are differences, but the strategy parallels and the accelerating drip-drip-drip of how resistance is worn away, those are truly terrifying.

Using Webb’s infrared abilities, researchers studied how starlight from beyond the molecular cloud was absorbed by the icy molecules within. This process left us with “chemical fingerprints,” or absorption lines, that could be compared with lab data to identify the molecules.

Was curious about the provenance of the scans - they're very good and I work in cultural heritage digitization; with some google sleuthing I found the source of these scans is actually the Smithsonian:

I was going to say maybe an inevitable result of posting high-quality public domain images, but actually the Smithsonian (one of the leaders in digitization) doesn't release their images of public-domain works into the public domain like we do where I work!

I'm actually playing this games, and this had a lot of improvement since he was unsupported. The controller work, there is less shuttering, less graphical bug, but if you stay in the menu too long or if you alt tab an application it's hard to come back and keep playing because it's lagging a lot. Well, I hope that the heroic dev will do something for the origin launcher too (referring to your interview)

I guess they finally caught up. Been playing Fallen Order on Steam deck since November or the beginning of December.
