It's weird that they're on the side of a site, being legally murky at best, and also that site is no longer up.

Did you receive any contact from them directly or did they just hassle YouTube instead of trying to seek a resolution?

@Cheeseness i spoke to two people at YouTube directly. One said they will personally deal with it, another said they can’t help.
in reply to Cheeseness

@Cheeseness oh yeah, they eventually caved and showed me a shot of an email to YouTube asking for it to be reinstated but clearly nothing has been done
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Wait, I'm confused. The scammer/unauthorised reseller asked for the video to be reinstated? Weren't they the ones throwing legal threats at YouTube?
in reply to Cheeseness

@Cheeseness yes, they are the ones who sent the removal and now they also asked YouTube to reinstate

It makes absolutely no business sense to me for #jsaux to do this.
They used to be mainly known for having the best cheap dock option for the #SteamDeck in the community.
Instead of simply addressing it, now they are getting the #streisandeffect instead.

For all the people who keep mentioning PeerTube: I’m on TILVids too, but I earn nothing from it - this is why I and others stick to YouTube because it actually pays. I like to eat.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

yeah also on peertube and odyssee but only YouTube pays my bills! Still, I'm happy I can provide the content adfree to those in need
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Do you think you can have micropayments on peertube to you or to support peertube?
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

😥 Yeah, it's unfortunate it has a monopoly due to financials alone.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

what's the content that was removed?

Also DDG doesn't show tilvids main site in the first search results wtf
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Some of those #YouTube alternatives *do* support paid subscriptions and / or donations , though… And there’s always the option of in-video advertisement.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

that’s interesting to hear. I have a project on the drawing board personally and another with a friend for a gaming related YouTube channel. I hear a lot of YouTubers complain about the algorithms but it’s interesting to hear that’s still where the money is. Makes sense. But part of you still hates to see late-stage capitalism dictating our fates.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

What about considering Odysee (aka. LBRY) network?
Yeah, it’s blockchain (and I’m not a fan of blockchain), but it might cost less than PeerTube, and can help you preserve the taken-down videos.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

wait, so you're saying that you *actually manage* to earn money from YouTube?!

Money wise, most of the content creators I follow simply use YT to advertise the actual things that pay: mostly sponsors and/or patronage (patreon, utip, etc.)
The general tendency reported is that YT revenue have been declining over time.

But it might depend what sector you're in, and how much ads you're allowing, and what's the prevalence of adblocking among your viewership.

That's bullshit. About as much bullshit as Twoset Violin getting a copyright strike on their own performance of the Mendelssohn violin concerto.
