@scanlime hype or not, it is being used and we offer it in a privacy preserving way. Also those AI feature do not come pre-installed, you have to enable it manually. Choice. Yay! πŸ’™ ~@marius

So, I couldn't really find anything in your post about it, but what exactly is "Ethical AI", and what AI product does this new release use?

Is it a self-hosted, open source AI, or simply integrations with closed-source products like OpenAI? Because if it's the latter and not the former, those kinds of products have serious ethical issues.

My little nextcloud instance doesn't have enough GPUs to run a large language model.

So if it's used at all, it's sending whatever data it has out for processing on someone's else cloud.

Guess that's why it's not called owncloud any more.

Forward all your data to the next cloud!

@pre @deadsuperhero none of this is enabled by default, you can chose what you want to use and even if it is self hosted or hosted somewhere else πŸ˜€

@deadsuperhero
Well that's good. I'm not actually that averse to sending some stuff to OpenAI, but can't imagine any reason I'd do it from my nextcloud instead of directly through OpenAI's api.

Seems like it'd be pointless extra steps.

Maybe I'll remember to upgrade this time and find out ;)

I'd really appreciate a major release without a single new feature, but instead tons of technical debt payed, bugs fixed, papercuts eliminated.

I have a Tesla P40 attached to my nextcloud instance. How can I benefit from that? The only thing I currently know is that an app Recognize can use GPU to accelerate.

@meatlotion It's a great question! The snap package is a Nextcloud community project, so best to ask the nextcloud-snap project directly..:
