I think the best alternative is to set up mail in vivaldi browser I've been using mail, calendar and rss through them for a few months now and I can confidently say it's more convenient.
I love the idea of even better email client, but this is exactly what bothers me in open-source software - project naming. Thunderbird is pretentious enough, but people got used to the name. But now - Betterbird? Awful name... Not related to e-mail at all and cringe to say to someone "hey, I'm using Betterbird". Like what is it? Alternative to Twitter? Oh, email client... Maybe I'm a bit harsh, but I think naming projects is the main flaw...
I've been using #Betterbird for a few months now while I'm trying to migrate away from Outlook. It takes some time for testing and finding new work flows, but so far I like the improvements to Thunderbird.
Biggest challenge is finding a good way to mark emails for follow up, so they are added to my task list. BB is creating a copy, losing the link to the original email, but I might have found an add-on now. I'm open to suggestions!
I have been using betterbird for a while. What impressed me the most was that it works in the system tray. I could not find this comfort in other applications on Linux.
