Precisely what I did with my girlfriend’s PC a couple of weeks ago.
She is definitely not technical.
In the space of an hour she was already messing around with Linux Mint settings and installing software.
I reminded her the laptop was still in dual boot, to give her time to adjust.
She replied: “Windows? Delete that shit”

I've got an older HP Zbook laptop that was DOA from a medical office. They donated it for parts and eventually, we replaced the mobo in it from another unit a few years later. Wiped the Windows and installed Linux. That was 9 years ago. Blazingly fast running an i7 cpu, 64GB ram, 1 TB mSATA. 3840 x 2160 rez. It's high end, I know, but considering it's now over 10 years old and STILL running anything I need, I'd say that's all due to Linux being on it.

Almost any old Laptop can be made useable again by upgrading the HDD to SSD. Then Linux (eg.g. Mint or MX Linux) works just wonderfully.

I recently got Linux Mint XFCE installed in my 4gb ram amd6 and it works beautifully. Windows was a menace.

I just updated my Lenovo Yoga 9 (about 4 years old) to Linux Mint. It ran Windows 11 just fine, but it runs Linux even better.
