Day 2: Ten Days, Ten Films.

I’ve done this before. It’s a lot of fun!
Over ten days you pick an image from a film without any title to give away where it is from, so that people can guess. You can also nominate others to do the same. That way more people are in on the game! (or not--your choice 😀 )

Love that - my favorite animated movie of all time. 😀

Well, if you are going to show a clip from Fantasia you really ought to have some from its (in my opinion, better) spoof, Allegro Non Troppo.

I've always like the finale ...

@Joyce Donahue - You should see the entire film, it basically parallels Fantasia with animated classical pieces. The best know part is the Bolero segment where a Coke bottle tossed by an alien spacecraft sets off a sequence of evolution. - sort of like the Rite of Spring part of Fantasia.

It's kind of hard to see because for some reason it is largely blocked in the US. I had to buy a DVD set from Greece (and an unlocked DVD player to play it.)

A classic Bozetto film, and some of Nichetti's earliest work. We saw it in the cinemas, and also own a DVD. I highly recommend all Nichetti's films - they're mostly live action, but Volere Volare is a blend of live action and animation, like Roger Rabbit.

@Karl Auerbach I DO LOVE Allegro Non Troppo! I'm a major animation fan! ❤

I think for day three I will have to include a message that people indicate that they recognise a film without saying what it is, so that other people can have the fun of guessing!

When Laserium did Crystal Odyssey, its classical music show (with space fantasy narration about being on an epic quest to help a fair maiden), the choreography for Bolero was a definite hat tip to Allego Non Tropo.
in reply to Muse

@Bob Lai I miss laserium! It was a great Friday night out for us UW students!

Avantgardey did a terrific dance piece to Bolero. However, it has been taken entirely down because that music is in the public domain in most of the world--except the US. I'm hoping 1 January 2025 Avangardey will put their video back online.

Such a classic. Everyone should see this one. It’s magic…

This is a fun trailer for this! It includes some of the history of the film!
