I get that it's more work, but it seems like the right thing to do.
And the excuse of 'having to maintain a peertube server' is one.... just have a company host it (like @Cloud68 )
The added bonus is that you ca have peertube embeds on the nextcloud site which will never cause tracking/ad problems
