5 towering men filed into our conference room in the Hart Senate office building.

“Hello little lady,” one lightheartedly greeted me, glancing back at the door as if still waiting for someone.

“It’s nice to meet you,” I began. “What brings you here today?”

The group shifted in their seats, perhaps mildly irritated. I guessed they expected to speak directly with a U.S. senator rather than the 25yo woman sitting across from them.

Oh the stories I could tell… But those largely aren’t for the substack. It sounds like you can probably relate.

I had far more challenges navigating academia as a woman over the years than Congress. Although I’ve been in academia far longer.

Some sensitive Congressional observations processed into critical thinking narrative Woke is good !

If I had the audacity to greet you in that manner, I'd fully appreciate your retort of "Hello old fat man. Did you know tall men die earlier than the average male?"

, one would think that any lobbyist would know better even if they are as misogynistic as can be.
in reply to Todd Craiger

@toddcraiger Exactly. That’s the curious part.

It was as if they didn’t realize their actions could undermine their goals. Lobbyists should surely know that.

@APBBlue It is a lovely floor & overall a wonderful place to work. We were just next door to then-Senator Obama.

The 7th floor also offers an excellent view of the Mountains and Clouds sculpture.
