The year of the linux desktop will be when I go to any store and at least half of the laptops come with linux and the laptops and those are the better laptops price to performance/features But that will never happen if microsoft keep their monopolistic behaviour
As someone who spent 20 years developing Linux systems I don’t think it’s going to ever happen. I also think that it is the Linux community that is preventing it, not Apple or Microsoft.
As a Linux user and developer since 2000, I want to say the licensing model of the major part of the Linux ecosystem, plus the ideology of the Linux community, are preventing it from happening.
