Why Discord became the default platform for so many communities is beyond me. Really hope this is a wake up call for people to find better platforms and stop relying on single provider Big Tech honeypots.

That's a true a lot of FOSS community don't want to see. Even if the way some community use it as wiki AND some hub to download build and all are beyond me. The fact you need to go to discord to found thread for support around app also completely kill how we can search topics online, but despite that, discord don't have alternative right now..

@tripop @Kalon people using it like a forum are stupid, it's a chat app, and it does bug me when info is *only* on Discord

But aside from that, Discord as an app is pretty good and no other group chat app compares at all, not even close

we need to get people on stuff like mastodon and matrix.org, discord is nothing but somehow filled with predators and edgy teenagers

heck, i have to use it because its mainstream and no one likes apps like signal since "Google Chrome is the future."
