when I started using it ~15 years ago, I was blown away that I could update all my programs at the same time--and for free!?

How easy it is to use. Way easier than that other one.

That I got a bit wealthy in a datacenter of space business for 30 ys. First with SunOS (Solaris) then RedHat Enterprise Linux followed by Novell/Suse. Most unexpected? Enterprise Linux is limited only to 3-5 Linux companies. One is german. 2nd : a psychology student, Peter, wrote a thick german guide for Debian and foundet in 90ies a FOSS company in my town. @univention

if you let people yse whatever they want there wont be any improvements and nothing will be getting better. X11 is crap, but people still cling to it. People use ext4 instead of btrfs even though btrfs is better. And of course, many people prefer traditional packages instead of universal and sand boxed formats

You don't need to hear loud noises 24/7 from your HDD and fans.

Finding tiling managers. Right now I am using qtile. Tried Wayland tiling managers - Sway and Hyprland and had different experiences. On Sway everything works, but nit on Hyprland.
