I've been drawing strips for years about attacks on students' right to protest, yet strangely I've never been invited to give a TED Talk, speak at an "ideas festival," or pen a column for the Atlantic.

This is from 2016.

So, so true. I HATE that it’s true.
Here at the university of Iowa, trans people are the only ones targeted by the cops when bigots are invited to give speeches, and we protest them. We have them on record in court testimony saying they do this!

ty. I should add that i love how spot-on your ‘toons are. ❤️

i put it here as well.

my fear is, it is about power and money.

when someone or something can afford lawyers or supports financially, they are protected.

when someone or something does not have financial resources, they are discriminated, or even arrested and expelled from university.

That's terrible, when I went to college everyone believed in drastically different things but their beliefs were not tied to their identity so if someone said shit it was not such a big deal and no matter what someone said you could always hang with them.

This is a perfect example of how power and money can silence marginalized voices. When those with privilege feel threatened, they'll stop at nothing to suppress dissent.
