there seems to be an increase of 4X games which don't take ages anymore.
I wonder if that has partially to do with the also aging gamer population, who have a family etc and not all the time anymore.

Stellaris is hard to beat when it comes to this genre, but if it's faster to play and still satisfying, it may have a shot
