This is why I'm happy the Steam Deck is a thing. GPUs in particular almost feel like getting scammed buying one and I just kind of want off that ride.

...Fortunately Valve came up with a solution that runs Linux as a cherry on top.

Granted it doesn't replace really high end cards but it's kind of to the point where it makes more sense to rent compute time than to try and buy one.

The one and only "ready to run" it self built pc I bought was the MSI Aegis something something 5. With a 3090 i9 11900K and 128GB of ram. Power machine. Monster. Superfast.
Ugly as fuck. Build to the limit. Permanently overheating, even with the water cooling unit which was built in.
No thank you. No MSI parts for a looooong time.
And no nVidia on Linux. Not until the OSS drivers are usable.
