I took this photo last year at Curtain Fig National Park in #Australia.

This spectacular strangler fig is nearly 165 ft (50m) tall, with a trunk circumference of 128ft (39m) & estimated to be >500 years old! #nature

I am guessing the host tree it originally grew on is long dead?

Wow, what a sight! And yes, I am curious about the tree it grew on as well. Strangler gigs, wow 💚

A possibility dumb science question: we’re told that nuclear power plants do no produce carbon dioxide and therefore do not contribute to planetary warming.

Nuclear power plants work by converting matter into energy and presumably therefore have a positive net energy contribution to the planet. Does or does not this energy contribute to planetary warming?

I do not have a science degree but have worked in scientific fields for much of my life.

Thanks. 🇦🇺

It's pretty amazing eh? So is the other large fig down the road, The Cathedral Fig.
