I showed the movie to my dad and mom when they were in their early 80s. I put the movie on and my dad was like "I don't think I like it" at first. I told him to keep watching and by the second half I was saying "do you want me to turn it off" and he was into it by then. He so mimicked the little kid in the movie. Sweet memory. Thanks.
my 1976 Pan paperback has all the asides printed in red ink. You could write to the publishers Harcourt Brace Jovanovich for the “omitted reunion scene” and get back an update why you couldn’t have it due to litigation from S Morganstern’s estate. I think now in current editions it’s just included as another aside. I also think the whole kissing thing is from the movie. How a new generation encountered this book.
