A senior United Nations official says intensifying violence in Congo's eastern region has pushed a humanitarian crisis in the region to “unprecedented” levels. Ramesh Rajasingham, the director of coordination in the U.N.
there's nothing peaceful about these encampments. Destruction of property aside, they actively bar peaceful students from spaces they have the right to use and go around calling for the genocide of Jews. They took over a building and *held a staffer hostage inside*. They were not peaceful.
Gaza has not been destroyed, and Rafah has obviously not been flattened.
But yes, there's a humanitarian crisis in Gaza. I sure hope Hamas stops firing rockets at aid crossings and docks.
Several news channels said some of these students called to exterminate some nation instead of suing only those who break the law. Unsure if that's about peaceful protests, but these calls seems to be against the law of many countries. If you let anybody freely call for someone's execution without a court, you may become the next "someone", sadly
I am 100% in support of the cause the students are promoting but for the life of me I cannot see how encampments and the like will achieve it. Almost always they are so much hot air that does little practical. Change is achieved through calm negotiation.
