Mine also got delivered today. What's even more fascinating: I ordered several mugs and stickers on friday at 09:00 AM and they got delivered TODAY at 11 AM. Never received anything quicker π
In all honestly I wonder how Mastodon operates. To me, it seems like however many plushies you order from wherever you're ordering them from, you should just get more. If a singular purchase makes a profit, isn't more better? Or are there tax reasons not to do this? Or do you never expect to sell this many?
I know it's rich asking this as an outsider, I wouldn't know how much budget there even is for this and maybe you were going off sales numbers from last year. I guess I'd just be interested in knowing why this happened, not because I'm disappointed (I got mine hehe) but because there seems to be people wanting to buy them and you presumably being interested in selling them (unless this would make you lose nonprofit status or something)
@ErikUden It's the sticker sheets that got sold out, not the plushies! And they're going to get restocked soon. But to answer your question, producing too many is a risk: There is a large upfront cost and an ongoing storage cost. I try to cautiously base the numbers on past sales, mailing list subscribers, and poll respondents on Mastodon.
@ErikUden If we could get the plushies in some physical stores, I think we could start producing them more regularly, because I genuinely believe it's a great toy that can rival any other toy being sold in stores right now. If you have some connections in that area, let me know π
saw your post, went to check the store, told @jan they were there and the mini plushies too and he ordered them before either of us got the mail that the mini plushie were available.
Conclusion: you inadvertently did post about them π
