this is exactly why they shut down api access. Companies were scraping reddit data(user generated content )for free, and they wanted to charge big for it.

So it's only about public posts? Then surely we all realize that every single thing we publicly post online will be scraped, archived, and analyzed mercilessly, whether on Reddit, on Mastodon or anywhere else.
