Although linux mint was the first distro that I installed on my laptop but Ubuntu was the first distro that introduced me to Linux desktop and I used it in VM(virrual box). I liked mint and installed it but got screen tearing and switched to Ubuntu for a while and switched back to mint after a while but I liked both of them. It was an amazing journey for me with linux.

Your website really helped me a lot with linux commands when I was just starting out.

My first Linux distro was Mandriva, because I found somewhere that it's the easiest one for beginners. But quickly I switched to Ubuntu, first it was Gutsy Gibbon, I kept using it all the way to Maverick Meerkat (I still remember those names!) Then I switched to Windows for some time, and came back a few years later. Now I am writing it from Jammy Jellyfish that's on one of my computers, but for the rest I switched to Mint. Ubuntu has been with me for 16 years now.

Maybe someday Canonical will pull their heads out of their duffel bag.

Ubuntu 6.06 was my 3rd Linux experience after Slackware and Debian. Canonical sent me a complete set of CDs, which I still have. Then I bought Suse Linux. I have been using Debian as my main operating system for about 20 years. I'm currently using Spiral Linux (Debian Bookworm) https://spirallinux.github.io/ .

My first Linux distro, it was a nice I experience, even tho my pc didn't had the most fitting specs for the OS requirements haha, didn't knew much bout that at the time, but even tho it isn't my favorite distro anymore, i still got a great first impression of the Linux world through it

@ubuntu Ubuntu Ubuntu 10.04 was the first Linux I ever saw and used. It was impressive when compared with Windows XP; even the Compiz effects seemed cool at the time.

Ubuntu 10.10 was the first Linux I installed on my (quite old) personal hardware.

I briefly tried out Mint and elementary OS, but stuck with Ubuntu until I moved to openSUSE 13.2 and finally to Arch.
