Microsoft experiments with a handheld Windows 11 mode for Steam Deck 🤔 https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/04/microsoft-experiments-handheld-windows-11-for-steam-deck/ #SteamDeck

I dunno...Maybe they should focus on making Windows not suck in the first place? It has gone seriously downhill with every release starting with XP. Windows 2000 was the peak of Windows editions.

I suppose performance will be worse due to not having dxvk (out of the box) and the sidebar settings like tdp, wel...

its not a good idea. The performance drop on windows 11 vs linux is very high. I was getting solid 60FPS on overwatch on linux, used windows 11 for about 20 hours, got 24FPS when playing on windows 11. 100% not worth it to exist and they know it. It would just show how bloated their OS is.

sooo a dumb question… I know it is documented to dual boot (safely from a high capacity micro card)… based on these comments, is it worth it? Other than battery drain, I still want to do it.

Do I play a ton of Game Pass on PC in general? No. Do I like options? Yes. Do I like Game Pass over Cloud? No. Finally, do I like portable options? Heck yes.

@bennysp It's not something I'm personally interested in doing (I think my dual-booting days are behind me), but if you're curious about it then I think you should go ahead and try it.

@Thad thanks.

Looking for those that have gone down this road and have had similar desires. Maybe even a thorough pros/cons?

Maybe the answer IS check it out for self and determine, but I am seeing if there is anymore experienced feedback too.
