Welp, it’s early March in the Midwest & the ticks sure seem to be enjoying the warm temperatures.

I think ticks are the only lifeforms I really despise! Not happy that climate change means their numbers and their ranges are growing.

I suppose this is a good excuse to share the source of this particular ectoparasite.

He’s also far more adorable than the previous image in my opinion. #dogsofmastodon /2

@mjf_pro unfortunately no. I think this tick was well fed. There’s also a second I am having trouble removing bc its embedded and the puppy thinks tick removal is a game. I will try again when he’s sleepier.

I have a suggestion for you that worked for me, my dog and my cat like gangbusters - Bravecto.

My spaniel had brown dog ticks, and they were all over the house, even in my bed! After one dose, the ticks disappeared. I gave her a second dose after 90 days just to be sure. We haven't seen one since.

Then Baby Cat came, with fleas. I gave the dog a Bravecto, and the fleas fled from the kitten, the dog and the house.

Way better than any topical.

@Axomamma He’s on NexGard & hope it has similar results. Our last pup was on Bravecto but our new vet prefers this company. Not sure why.

@mjf_pro as a northern Minnesotan, having a tick key is an absolute must...it may take a bit of fur with it when you use it, but better than leaving the head in your pup...

Love that face, you just have to fluff those ears and kiss that nose!

Since the deer have started coming through our backyard, there are ticks. I have stopped doing any yardwork there besides mowing lawn & edging. The deer have taken care of the hosta beds all on their own. . .

My B-I-L lives in upstate NY and a neighbor's dog died from a tick bite. B-I-L mentions it's a result of warmer temperatures, changing climate and the guy whose dog died - anti science guy- insists there hasn't been any change in climate. My B-I-L is like dude, it's March. In upstate NY and your dog died of a tick bite. C'mon now.

One of the many reasons why I take climate change personally. I HATE ticks!

I think that needs a content warning!
With a mild winter in the UK we fear another bad tick year. Absolute horrors. We love to walk fluffy bear in the woods, but have to stay on wide paths in a tick summer.
