Assassin's Creed Valhalla is impressive on Steam Deck https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2022/12/assassins-creed-valhalla-is-impressive-on-steam-deck/

I've a few of the others in the #AssassinsCreed series - though hadn't tried any on #SteamDeck. Something about life in the US lately just has me practicing #SelfCare by shooting Nazis in #SniperElite just to remain sane.

But I really should pick up #Valhalla ...I think I'll do that this weekend.

What is impressive is how lazy is the integration of the game on the Steam ecosystem, this is basically a shortcut to their terrible launcher "ubiconnect".
in reply to iniOr

@iniOr Not quite. The entire game download is via Steam, as are all updates.

The Ubisoft launcher is annoying, i never like additional launchers, but I wouldn't call it in any way "lazy". The launcher does have an upside: cloud saves across basically all platforms for it.

Why require a third party launcher when Steam is already a DRM ? Also Steam includes many excellent features (like hum... cloud saves 😂) that are not available with the game, I don't understand the point of releasing the game without any of such features this is embarrassing when you compare to EA or Microsoft games that are fully integrated with Steam functions. To me it is a lazy port.

@iniOr Steam being DRM or not is already debatable, since a lot of games on it are DRM free and can be run outside of Steam.
Not going to debate the cloud save but, already mentioned clearly their login gives you all platform saves.

Ok so you have nothing to say, ok. Have a nice day praising lazy ports just because they run on Steam Deck.

that looks amazing.
I remember when it launched and I was trying nightly vkd3d builds to make it work and the performance was terrible in my pc with several glitches and artifacts. I even recorded a video with a tutorial on how to play it on lutris at the time. Ahahah
It's great how Linux gaming is evolving real fast.

@flaviofearn yeah mega impressed with the performance considering how big a game it is, really it’s a credit to Ubisoft on their optimisation
