A lot less resource demanding on low end machines, runs on almost anything, and freedom to do whatever you want, even the forbidden ```sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root```
to be short : huge experience with Linux - low level office user-only with Windows. I studied Unix& Linux from the 80ies !! Windows was a black box then. I learned Windows like the ancient typewriter device. I admit Linux missed good office programs till millenium. However today my Co. still delivers Win10 for office and Linux for developers.
Linux made me rethink my entire digital life and snapped me out of using only the consumer-centric mainstream industry players. I love how I seem to be able to find tools for things I want to try because some other like-minded person has already thought of that years ago. I'm looking for a job where I can use Linux and FOSS on a daily basis. I keep lamenting there are only two smartphone OS choices so awaiting the day when I can use Linux there, too. Linux=choice and choice is good!
I can spend 30 minutes and get windows setup and running the way I want, and get up to full functionality in about 3 hours. I will then have to spend 1-3 hours /mo fixing it. It takes me 5 hours to get Linux setup the way I want and then I spend 1-4 hours/yr fixing it. It also runs 20C cooler on average in Linux.
