How does Arduino's future look to you? 🤔

thank you for the post. I was genuinely considering getting a board to try out some lower-level programming after spending the last 7 years in webdev / JS land. Are there any alternatives you would recommend?

Sad to see a beloved ecosystem get taken behind the barn..

Doomed.

It was popular, but actually the stacking hat idea was poor and the IDE underwhelming.
I've got a board, but usually I just put a PIC18F on stripboard with desired I/O, programming header and maybe a USB socket. Early ones in Assembler or C, later ones programmed in JAL.
Or use a Raspberry Pi, though I think HW form factor / layout is poor.
My Arduino is gathering dust.

I guess Adafruit will be looking for a replacement platform.
Qualcomm are a double dip patent troll.

today Arduino, tomorrow maybe Raspberry, who knows. Capitalism always benefited from enclosing the commons. A lot of meritocracy in the discourse, but then in the practice, steal all you can from the community. I am aware that FOSS has to allow all freedom, but I prefer the licenses that prevent closed source corpos from stealing us and enclosing us out of what we the community made great together...

The Arduino community will slowly die. Big tech can't seem to understand why the thriving things they buy wither after purchase. They don't understand the changes they make to enrich themselves are the very things that make them lose money.
