I wonder how much Microsoft pays companies to not offer Linux. Almost every piece of software I run now runs in a browser or can be run in a browser. So for 99% of people compatibility is not a problem.

You say that but I am really missing the small things like a clipboard for whatever you copied or the limited functionality of the Nautilus file explorer

Windows command line is weird and whole OS I'd closed off and is way too bloated

Apparently I was used to it, or I had things configured in such a way that I wasn't getting nags when I was on Windows.

I made the switch in May, deleted the partition. But now I keep a small VM with Windows 10 for a couple of 🏴‍☠️ programs, and it's incredible how annoying it's gotten. Every time I use it, I get nagged.

I don’t understand why schools and universities purchase windows. Why could save so much money but using Linux.

the only windows i use at home now is in a docker container. i can create and destroy it over and over again.

windows 11 is a few steps down from vista. hot. garbage.

I just did exactly this. I went back to Windows for a while here recently for about a week. I was able to do work with no problem. Honestly, using Windows was terrible. I didn't like that they forced me to use their OneDrive. I didn't like all the notifications happened trying to get my attention. It would have been a better experience if they just left me alone. But I felt uncomfortable with Windows. It wasn't them. It was me. And I've been happily using Debian / GNOME ever since.

This is also how I feel using Ubuntu when I'm used to illumos and Alpine.

Also, Apple Mac OSX users after trying Linux for more than 30 seconds.

So goddamn true.

Windows is atrocious

But tbh MacOS is even worse

I have to use Linux, windows and macos.

Linux can be a pain, but it always works. Windows is a bit annoying, and but it usually works. MacOS..... wtf? It's like they made windows run on Linux, then crippled linux then took any power from Windows and reduced it to like play-school levels, where if you want to do anything remotely technical, you need to drop into the command line..... and even then, your changes may get "fixed" by the magical MacOS.

So.... for me, the most awful system I've ever used, since windows 3.1 is any version of MacOS.

I tried. I really really tried. For 3 months I worked exclusively on a macbook pro that cost me like $2400. I finally just gave it to my kids and bought another lenovo.

I ditched Windows in 1998. Got a job where I never saw a Windows machine for 10 years. Current job is Windows mostly. Mondays are such a huge adjustment. I spend the weekend with software that "works right", then have to reset (and make lots of mistakes) on Monday...

только Windows 7 нравится 👍 а дальнейшие обновления это ужас. 😰

@hexaitos this every time I have to open a fresh Edge instance for job. Or dealing with their new Windows settings panel.
