Ofcom has said that for small sites, the costs of complying “are likely to be negligible or in the small thousands at most”.

Deluded. Say goodbye to UK forums and forums serving the UK.

The baffling part is that they assume small site admins and forum owners have "small thousands" just tucked away somewhere

I fucking hate what the internet has become. The vast majority of the evils that come from the net come from large centralised organisations, and in response they pass laws that are trivial for large centralised organisations to comply with, and crippling for small groups. It's mandatory centralisation.

@Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮 The fact that they think that "in the small thousands at most” is negligible is completely out of touch.

What percentage of revenue is that for a forum that produces £0 (zero) revenue? My calculator says something about dividing by zero.

Try not paying a "negligible small thousands" to the taxman and see where it gets you...

@david_chisnall A good sign, though, that the conservative press which usually cheerleads ‘think of the children!’ moral crusades for internet censorship is taking note of the negative effects of this Act

"in the small thousands at most"

If Ofcom expect hobbyist to have a few thousand in their back pocket just for incidental costs of running something then they're clearly paying their staff way too much. Come to think of it, are they hiring?

they do not, and I've given them one chance to prove themselves and they have/will fail.

I knew Steve Reed wouldn't reply, he's on the Front Bench.
