my boss, not a programmer but handy with python and R and pretty good at stuff, spend all day swearing cause the nix update f*cked the graphics display and the instructions were 45 pages of command line gibberish
now adays (win 10/11) updates take only a few minutes and you are prompted to schedule them at a convenient local time (2 AM for normies, 9AM for nerds 😀 )
the problem is that each update gives MS a chance to reset your defaults to make you into a client of the MS cloud
