Well, I can tell you as someone who was like 99.9% a Windows user just using Linux for fixing things and such, the thing for me was Microsoft shoving stuff like Copilot down our throats. All the forced automatic update crap and etc and the stuff that literally steals private info, MS just totally lost it.

And I swear Apple is somehow even more anti-consumer -- just less in your face obvious about it. Spending 2-3x as much for more limited options and control... Why???

not well. Most software still run only in CLI not GUI versions. And a usage of CLI kills time

I know people who put Windows on a Apple Machine. I personally try to switch to Linux and have a hard time of letting go... I personally think convenience and habits will beat "Tinkerer" mindset needed for Linux.

A friend of mine switched to Fedora recently after completely ditching Windows, and is considering Arch Linux. I installed Arcolinux on his laptop a while ago, which eased his transition to GNU/Linux, I presume.

Once it worked. My sister bought a laptop without an OS and I installed #LinuxMint there. Some days after, she said "With Linux everything is so easy". I will always remember this sentence 🥹.

The problem was that the webcam started to fail and I wasn't capable to fix it. The company (Lenovo) answered that the warranty was only applicable if you were using Windows. Then they installed Windows in the laptop, now the webcam works and she uses Windows again.

I switched my personal laptop from Windows to Linux Mint early this year. It had a lot of issues with the wifi card. Ended up buying a tiny usb dongle. Its my daily driver. Im a tinkerer though and have a lot of patience and interest in figuring this type of thing out.
