IMO, of you're editing files to the point where you need the advanced tools in vim/emacs, you shouldn't be doing it in a terminal editor. You should be using an IDE and version control
Yeah I so do not like Vim & I almost never use Emacs. As for micro: It's OK, I have only used it a handful of times. For me in terminal: I used Pico(yes I'm old) back in the day and now Nano.
In GUI: I use kate and EditPlus. I'm still looking for something to replace EditPlus as it is a Windows🪟 app that I have to run in Wine🍷 Not many good GUI text editors for #Linux

Emacs has buttons for important actions and menu entries for almost anything relevant. Therefore, a beginner has way better options compared to vim. 🤷
