IMO, of you're editing files to the point where you need the advanced tools in vim/emacs, you shouldn't be doing it in a terminal editor. You should be using an IDE and version control

It's funny but far from truth.

Emacs has buttons for important actions and menu entries for almost anything relevant. Therefore, a beginner has way better options compared to vim. 🤷

Yeah I so do not like Vim & I almost never use Emacs.
As for micro: It's OK, I have only used it a handful of times.
For me in terminal: I used Pico(yes I'm old) back in the day and now Nano.

In GUI: I use kate and EditPlus.
I'm still looking for something to replace EditPlus as it is a Windows🪟 app that I have to run in Wine🍷
Not many good GUI text editors for #Linux

Accurate. Can confirm. I might lose my Linux card saying this, but… I use Nano.
