Since I love any chance talk about reducing #food waste (which wastes energy, water + contributes to #ClimateChange) I made this PBS short on why we needn't be so quick to toss out those brown bananas 🍌

I’ve been eating brown bananas for 40 years. I prefer them when they’re passed green and heading towards black.

brown bananas == time to make banana bread. I've been the family go-to in our house since early 2020 for making banana bread. ("Often", is our motto!)

As someone that likes them just a hair before they are ripe, I find brown disgusting to eat.. unless they are used in banana bread!

Spouse will only eat unripe (bright yellow, unspotted) bananas.

I wait until they're about 30% spots, but at that point they only have a couple of days before they become bread, or even better, muffins.

Recall in college biology, looking at brown bananas under a microscope, do not recall what for though?
