Well, it's a Steam Deck with an OLED display.

Like a Nintendo switch with an OLED display it is nice but it's nothing spectacular.

It is not a #steamdeck to still ... 😉 #valve

Hey Liam, thanks for the quick update. I would be mostly interested in the new screen, cooling system/fan (!), d-pad and sticks but don't want to switch out my whole deck for that. Will there be any DIY upgrade options since it's the same case? If you have any infos on that (or can get them from Valve somehow), please share them in detail. 😀

The fact that you don't focus on hardware, that you don't compare memory size with other devices, that you don't count processing units in the APU, is actually fantastic! The fact that you focus on games (real usage), that you explain Proton, Wine, explain compatibility problems is fantastic.
I wish there would be some Android phones review website, that focus so much on software side, as you do for Steam Deck.

To me it seems Valve has taken right lesson from Android phones market. Yes, it is possible to release new model every year, but the only result will be lack of software support. Till now, Steam Deck is receiving great software support. They shouldn't change that.

what I‘m interested in: does the fan run less on low TDP settings. For example Yakuza 0 or Alan Wake run at 30 fps and TDP 10/1000 Mhz and the fan is running only in a few scenes. I don‘t habe good suggestions how to benchmark/test case this. But I do hope the better thermal design helps. Reason: in bedroom gaming.
