yeah, let's fight bureaucracy with another competing standards body with it's own governance rules. Wow, how smart

A fair share of wayland projects will just ignore this, mine included

@lhp it's no different to having Wine and Wine Staging, a proper place to test things, get them into users hands and eventually into the main project

it's extremely different? This isn't about some self-contained software (which is barely relevant outside of playing games anyway), it's about agreeing on protocols for the entire linux desktop landscape. The entire thing smells like some people don't conceptually understand how any of this works... This grew out of spite, not good engineering ๐Ÿคท

not really competing, it's designed to be experimental. To allow for early adoption and real world usage to speed up wayland protocol development.

So while people are bickering on wayland protocols KWin & mutter & Gamescope can actually use things as a stop gap.
