Good that there's a workaround, but non the less that this sort of thing is why I think twice before getting any game that forces it's own launcher

@VianPlaysPH it has far less testing and can just break in other ways but experimental is mostly okay, it's bleeding-edge beta that can be more problematic as it's all the constant updates before being actually released

Valve needs to allow users to filter out games with Launchers. I don't want to buy games that have a Launcher.
