open source enables the ability for community to take a look on application's code and helping developers in fixing bugs and patching security vulnerabilities 😀

It's the cornerstone of why I try to use it as much as possible ! Technology free from big corporations and open to anyone enable us to foresee a world free from market domination, and that's why I advocate for it.

It is VERY important, however not crucial (since I'm also ok with closed-source/commercial but privacy respecting soft) 😀

Even though not everyone reads the code for every update, the beauty of FOSS is that if a company or individual decides to shut down the software, the community can pick it up and keep it going. It’s much easier to continue development or create a fork with open-source than it is with closed-source software. And in any case, if things go in unwanted directions, forks can continue with the original idea.

Very.. Not sure what else to say 😀 its 95% of my desktop software.

With open source, nearly everyone can participate. I think it can help heal the relationship between software developers and consumers. We need to participate in some way, if possible.

it's important, but I understand that not all the best things are open source.
