I planted this Rowan tree 5 years ago. It was a thin stick about 15cm long with a bit of root on one end. It came in the post. It's now almost as tall as the house! #PlantTrees

one of my favourite trees, lucky you and lucky them.

I have a great rowan berry jelly recipe if you'd like it.

@ephemeral I'd love to try your recipe. I will try making a very small batch this year.

@ephemeral PS, how are you liking "Flights"? I've got it, but waiting for a chance to make a start on it.

I love it but it's big so I'm taking my time (I read a few books at a time anyway so happy to move slow). I am a big fan of Olga Tokarczuk — my favourite is probably 'Primeval and Other Stories' — have you read her?

I'm moving house and just realised the book with the recipe is buried in a box so it'll have to wait til next week, sorry.

@ephemeral No problem; the berries aren't quite ripe in any case!

So far I've only read her "Drive your Plows" and "The Empusium". She's so brilliant at structuring stories. I'm saving Flights and Jacob for the winter!

I loved 'Drive your Plow' and haven't read 'The Empusium'. Funny you should mention her brilliant structure — I agree but 'Flights' is a very different kind of book. Ot sort of defies structure and replaces it with fragments. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am.
