Well it definitely isn’t pretty but these are the first test beads from my very first attempt at arc welding. The one on the left was the first, which isn’t completely horrible but it got worse after that.
Definitely a learning curve, but unlike my Prime Minister, I didn’t go blind and as a bonus didn’t set fire to anything either. #welding

My first MIG experiences are more or less the same πŸ™‚

I'm sure you subscribed the most "historical" welding channels on YouTube, like weld dot com and weldingtipsandtricks.

Yes.
And generally old videos (since welding technique doesn't evolve as fast as software) are less "selling-oriented".

yeah I found stick welding hard to get started. Was way easier for me with an auto darkening mask than a flippy mask as I could see where I was striking and get my posture stable.
