Lots of gates padlocked these days. Stiles in poor condition (and no way of getting a 31kg Fluffy Dog over!). 'Keep out, we will prosecute' notices pinned on posts where historically people used to walk. So much for getting healthy exercise, and contact with nature, to improve health. We can't travel to Europe easily anymore, soon we won't even be able to roam our own land.

Such an enormous percentage of England's land is in private hands (90%, I think). Have you read this book? It'll make you very angry but it's also very enlightening.

Thank you, will get a copy. We are off to Scotland in a couple of weeks, where it's less restrictive, but even there the fences are going up in some areas 😟

I'd recommend coming to Wales too - for many, many reasons, but also because the situation here is comparable to Scotland - in fact I think it's better. Jus come to Wales anyway, it's awesome.

We live on the Welsh borders, but a lot of walks we used to do are on the English side. The Welsh side is awesome, I agree, and we spend most of our holidays in Pembrokeshire (out of season, so Fluffy Dog can go on the beach!). Love Scotland though, and grandparents came from there. So am looking forward to that, it's a tad cooler for Fluffy too!

I was over your way last week! I walked the Mortimer Trail, which is incredibly beautiful. Warning if you intend to do it yourself - the trail up to Croft Castle is *brutal* 😂
I saw a story this morning from @palmoildetectives about a dog who died from ingesting part of a palm oil berg that washed up on the beach in Pembroke, so be aware when you're there. I'm off there myself next week.

If you are this way again let me know we can meet up for a cuppa and a chat. Hergest Ridge is my favorite walk, and there are beautiful gardens on the way down to Kington where you can get good food and a cuppa.
