It's important to understand that the vast majority of settlers are not violent or filled with hate. So stop demonizing people. #Israel #mazeldon #jewniverse https://www.ynetnews.com/article/bk71xpff3

they were lured into being international law violators by cheap housing
in reply to EyalL

If only international law didn’t designate some neighborhoods forbidden to Jews, it would be so much easier for us to find housing! 🤣
in reply to Baruch 🇮🇱

you can live inside Israel, rather than be an international outlaw. The Negev is cheap
in reply to EyalL

Are you really trying to defend the notion of racially segregated neighborhoods by suggesting alternative housing options?
in reply to Baruch 🇮🇱

will you allow Palestinians to move to your neighborhood as equals?

And no, I'm trying to defend the Geneva conventions which define you as an international outlaw, if you're a settler
in reply to EyalL

since 67 was a defensive war, and land gained in a defensive war can be kept how does it make Jews living in Judea and Samaria illegal? Not a trick question. I really want to understand.
in reply to Carol Warady

A) there's no law that land taken in defensive war can be kept or annexed
B) the land is not annexed, and its residents live there under severe oppression
C) settlers and soldiers work together to ruin the lives of the Palestinians near the settlers, in the hope it'll drive them to immigrate
in reply to EyalL

How does any of this justify declaring neighborhoods forbidden for Jews?
in reply to Baruch 🇮🇱

please stop the whataboutism
no, the PA is not good. that doesn't mean israel is good
and, um, relating to the other subthread here, yes there are palestinians in israel, i hope there are considering they're indigenous (as in, pre-state, yes jews are also indigenous but the two can be true), but you see, people who were displaced during the early wars of israel into occupied palestine do not have a right of return to israel, which is already rather problematic, and then israeli cities are segregated, even if not de jure, due to economic factors (palestinians tend to be poorer than jews due to historical factors such as land expropriation and direct discrimination) and social factors (anti-arab sentiment is very prevalent)
in addition, as eyal mentioned, the west bank is in a sort of legal limbo, most people there are not israelis, do not have their basic human rights respected by israel in areas under israeli control, and it is in fact under illegal occupation by israel overall
in reply to Baruch 🇮🇱

did you remove the post? shows on my end

>How does any of this justify declaring neighborhoods forbidden for Jews?
in reply to Baruch 🇮🇱

your post was whataboutism. "but what about the palestinians?" yes, that part is bad, ok, that doesn't excuse anything israel does
and regarding the rest, this is about your arguments in the rest of that thread, the mastodon subset of this godforsaken protocol does not let you reply to multiple posts, so yknow
in reply to MOVED to @chjara@meow.tuxcrafting.online

That post doesn’t say “what about the Palestinians?” Did you have a different post in mind?
in reply to Baruch 🇮🇱

you talked about towns excluding jews. usually in this kind of discourse that's shorthand for area A, or did you mean something else?
in reply to MOVED to @chjara@meow.tuxcrafting.online

in any case this is still whataboutism, the way you deflect any critique of segregation of palestinians by "yeah but jews aren't allowed in some places either", as if that makes it okay
in reply to MOVED to @chjara@meow.tuxcrafting.online

I am referencing the OP of this thread, not responding to segregation of Palestinians, except to point out that it is not the topic of this thread.
