I'm grateful that the BBC Sounds app, unlike iPlayer, has been available in foreign countries. I've enjoyed brilliant documentaries, audiobooks and dramas through it. I've been working my way systematically through the full Drama on 4 archive. So good - the writing, acting and immersive audio! Now I've learnt BBC Sounds will no longer be available outside the UK after July 21st. Am mentioning in case anyone else, like me, wants to binge their backlog before it shuts.

There is a replacement BBC app for outside the UK. It includes some, but not all, of the material from BBC Sounds. I see, for example, that Drama is still there, but with a handful of dramas, not the full archive as in BBC Sounds. Fair enough. I am happy I ever had access, not being in the UK.

That said, I wonder if I could argue that they should make BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer available in every country the British ever invaded, attacked or colonised. Just as a teeny tiny wee gesture of apology. Then we'd pretty much all get to keep it.
