I love the striations in these rocks, and the way they jut out. I'd always been told it was a combination of "marine snow" layers building up over millions of years, and chert/mudstone weathering at differing rates – then the tilt comes through California's characteristic tectonic folding. I remain "very much not a geologist", but it's still neat to see. #rocks #sigma
