Oh my God. I grew up evangelical, but my family/church did not believe in this version of the apocalypse, so I got a front row view of this belief system and was always super weirded out. I mean, literally "supporting" a nation that you fully expect/hope will get wiped off the face of the Earth is creepy and strange.

Ugh. I'm so glad I don't have to associate with those folks now. I do NOT know how I would be dealing with this ish.

Have you read Revelations? Guess who is going to be doing all of that killing in the holy land if Revelations turns out to be true? (Hint: it's the same people cheering all of this on.)

This isn't just about cheering other people committing genocide. This is about the desire to do it themselves.

Yes. Every time one of my Jewish friends expresses bafflement at their “Christian” friends who “support Israel” while obviously despising the Jewish people, I explain this to them. (Nit: in the tradition I learned, when Jesus returns all the Jews would magically see the error of their ways and become Christians.)

(I also make sure to point out that claims that “the Jews killed Jesus” is neither theologically or historically accurate.)
