Currently, old satellites either burn up safely in the atmosphere or remain in space. But we're working on new technology that could refuel or upgrade satellites while in space, expanding their lifespans and making spaceflight more sustainable: go.nasa.gov/3WCtVir

"remain in space", uh?

The non-handling of space debris is very much a role-model example of how _not_ to use technological innovation.

Why any (U.S. or other) national agency or private company (SpaceX) thinks it were allowed to pollute the planet's neighborhood come there hell or high water is also bewildering to say the least.

Great, now stop Musk from polluting LEO with his 50,000 Starlink satellites. Why does a billionaire get free reign over our limited space resources???

@nasa. That’s great but won’t fixing the old satellites be akin to rehabbing a 1965 Rambler as opposed to driving a new Audi? Fix up old junk and you end up with fixed up, obsolete junk.
