Reading Vonnegut, I have often sat frozen after reading a page.

Here you go! It's so many of us 😀 —

"Tsundoku" (積ん読) — Japanese word for "the practice of buying a lot of books and keeping them in a pile because you intend to read them but have not done so yet; also used to refer to the pile itself"
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/tsundoku

I first encountered the word on the old, now sad site, in a tweet from Rob Macfarlane, who is a wonderfully thoughtful nature writer (& more) —a sample: https://linktr.ee/robmacfarlane

Guilty as charged!! 📚 😂

Have a great day.😀

Oh yes. And keeping out the good book you just finished, because you can’t bear to hide it back on the shelf just yet.
in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

.. a shelf of special books within an arm's reach that one can take a-hold of and open at random and read any passage at any time.

The dream of my childhood, getting locked in the library during school vacation in summer.

They also had an air con which had a very good HEPA filter system. So no pollen, no hay fever!

High truth! Sadness at the end of a great book is REAL! But so is the joy of realizing at one point that the book you’re reading is good. 😊

One of the reasons I married my spouse is that we both realized we'd be happy with each other on a deserted island, as long as it had a library.

@inkican "Finish every book you pick up" doesn't seem to be on here. Hmmmm. I'll be darn.

my friends and wife cannot understand how I read multiple books at once!

last tandem read was Cannery Row backed with Einstein's Universe: Gravity at Work and Play

Buy three copies of a favorite book and force them on- I mean, give them to friends
in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

So close, but I’ve never been able to read more than one book at a time. Other than that everything else is accurate
in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

They left off ‘buy more books even though I have 200+ I haven’t read yet.’ (And this is only one wall…)
in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

😂💜
Also, your can still be a book lover if you don't fulfill all of this 😀
