Refusing any proprietary binary blobs, and thus making the amazing Linux-Libre project obsolete.

Proper hibernation and a standby from which it wakes up every single time.

really hard to suggest something get added when all I want is something less, especially given the recent wave of "age verification" getting baked into systemd and xdg

every new kernel release shall be introduced by a personal address from Linus Torvalds speech or voice in some kind of messages. Either a text message or a voice mail. Or even as a kernel message in syslog format or motd ( message of the day) on each login.

I'd like every distro tot work properly with my scanner and the Simple Scan program. With Mint it's fine, but Bodhi and Void Linux have issues.
Otherwise I don't really miss anything.

Nothing! Everyone always wants to add something to already working things and it always breaks something! But if i had to add something id say better support for live wallpapers! I feel like theres not really actually good live wallpaper solutions.

I would like to press alt-f4 from the desktop and it would ask if I want to shut down, like Windows does. 😊

make it functional by being able to.extend it in Scheme ;)

personally I don't need anything else, since I haven't noticed that I need extra functions that are only in windows, although I would like a functional screen reader in wayland since it is quite necessary

- To not force me to press the power button when out of memory or swap thrashing.
- Better energy and hibernation management. Fans running all the time are not cool.
- A detailed permission system for apps, like Android does or better.
- Run seamlessly Android apps. Waydroid is cool, but it is not seamless enough.
- True convergence, so I can run it in my phone and when I connect to a mouse, keyboard and display I have a full desktop experience.

Sorry, I couldn't pick only one 😉

Linux phones becoming more popular than Crookle and Crapple.

age verification, integrated AI agent, cloud dependency and security by only allowing apps from verified developers through a single app store.

Compatibilidad nativa con cualquier aplicación de Windows

These days I'd rather remove some features from the kernels I use, more than adding new ones... 😁

A voluntary anonymous XMR mining based donation system which supports open source projects. Users can choose which projects to support and how many cpu cycles to dedicate. Developers can choose to participate or not.

nothing really. It does what I need it to do. I can't say that about most things.

Ensure copied files use the original date created rather than the current date created.

Proper support for hardware features that have been there for years.
HDR and tpm2.0 to name 2 of them.
I'll clarify here because I know how people are on here and I already know I will get attacked for saying this. It's not a necessity at all, I am very much aware of this.
For me, it's more of a matter of having the *possibility* to have my OS work nice with everything my hardware is capable of, even if I don't want to enable it.

I use Linux for business administration and communication and loose
significant time storing documents.
I dream of the alternative to standard mouse and keyboard inputs by voice commands, such as: “Save this document in ‘Documents/Personal/Taxes’ with the filename ‘Tax declaration 2025.odt’.”
Better, a voice command as simple as: "Rename this LibreOffice document to 'Tax declaration 2025.odt and store it in folder 'Taxes'." with a warning if the destination isn't clear.

few years ago I would say - TPM based drive on-the-go encryption.
But now... let it be more reliable and convenient non-password based authentication.

Better fingerprint reader support. And/or Windows Hello cameras support.

Epson scan 2 being less ass. Oh and fixing shitty nvidia GPU drivers

I would add iPad support and no, I don't want AI on my desktop.

The ability to do an over-the-top refresh install that does NOT remove any of my home files. I have systems that run right when I live boot, but the installed version of the OS lost the ability to detect my sound card. I want to do be able to do a refresh install over the existing install to restore that functionality without having my home folder deleted as part of the refresh install process.
