Do you like DEBs? Ubuntu 24.04 doesn't!

I'm a long-time user of Unix and Linux.
I had embraced Ubuntu and its statement of respect for users.
I was disappointed with Ubuntu 22.04 and saw that it violated this ideal by forcing updates. (At least I was able to permanently remove Snap.)
I would not install a newer Ubuntu unless and until I had exhausted every alternative.

If you look at a modern corporation, they all have the same face:
- the worse, the better.
- we will not listen to anyone, even if it contradicts the community.

Is this with Kubuntu too? Personally I don't when I last installed a .deb using the GUI, normally use apt.
