Is it just me, or has “unhinged” reached peak saturation? It feels like I see it at least three times a day now. What about “out to lunch”? https://www.thesaurus.com/browse/unhinged

"Unhinged" has a connotation of danger that "out to lunch" lacks.

Maybe "off the rails?"

Crazy was retired because of ableism, but it’s a vivid, concise word for reacting to astonishing things. Just don’t use it on people! But crazy is now verboten and polite folk are exhausting lesser synonyms. Unhinged is getting tired.

surely eviscerate is more abused? Feel like unhinged has a bit of space left.
