I just saw that Meet.coop is shutting down its service: https://opencollective.com/meet-coop/updates/changes-coming-to-meet-coop-please-read This is a shame. I applaud them for their efforts.

Social.coop is a member. I suspect we'll probably be okay just using Jitsi via our May First membership.

But still, the important thing: Thank you, Meet.coop folks, for all you've done.

We're not quite ready to, but in a few weeks our privacy-preserving Booth video conferencing should be ready for wider use. (It currently doesn't support iOS/Safari.) We'd be happy to provide service at cost to nonprofits and cooperatives. We're a tiny organization ourselves but would like to help out.

There is discussion about possible scenarios in which the service might continue. For example, Social.coop could take over the basic elements, perhaps in collaboration with other co-ops. I find BigBlueButton very useful. I prefer it to zoom.

@Matt_Noyes @bhaugen is there anything that BBB does that Jitsi can't be made to do? The notes system comes to mind, but that could be fixed with an etherpad.

@bhaugen @Matt_Noyes Yep, that's what I had in mind, since #Socialcoop is already a @mayfirst member. One thing I appreciate, too, is the intentional low-bandwidth setting to reduce carbon footprint. Also, the MF instance has a rad custom tool for supporting multilingual interpretation.

Has Huddle01 been explored? They are building a web3 decentralized real-time communication infrastructure.

It has been awhile since we seriously explored their service for our projects. Having a top notch mobile experience was an important consideration which, at that time, they were not able to deliver.
