That SDSS image is always interestering but ever since i first saw it i wanted to ask one thing: Why is there this gradient from red to blue to red?

Wouldnt that mean that those galaxies are seemingly moving towards us?

what should i do if this exact image appears on my toast tomorrow.

And even more importantly. What topping should i put on that piece of toast?

that looks like a quarter of a 2d plane to me. How can this be called a map of the observable universe when that would be a sphere around us?
