a similar thing happened to me, I was using swaylock-effects, the version on Chaotic AUR is newer but won't work and the one from AUR is older but works. While updating my system, swaylock-effects got updated and once I tried to login from sleep, it just won't, swaylock just freezes there and won't let you do anything, no tty, no nothing. Had to hard reboot to get back.
